Penns Creek Pottery and Roger

I painted two more postcard watercolor sketches this evening. I had to stay indoors because of the rain. The top image is of Penns Creek Pottery. The lower image is Roger, sleeping.

Penns Creek Pottery Sketch

I took my paints down to the dock at Burnside Street this evening and worked on a watercolor for a while and tried to sketch, but nothing came out right. So I sketched this still life back home after dinner. It's of two vases and a sugar bowl that were crafted by Bill Lynch of the Penns Creek Pottery in Mifflinburg, PA. It's something of a family tradition to stop by the pottery at least once a year, it's near the cabin owned by my mother's family in our ancestral homeland. The link to the Penns Creek Pottery's webpage is www.pennscreekpottery.com
They make the most beautiful bowls, cups, vases, and other pottery items that I have ever seen. It's definately worth stopping at next time you're in central PA.

St. Mary's Church and Sunset

Two postcard sized watercolor sketches of the sunset and St. Mary's Church from Burnside Street this evening. The days are really starting to feel shorter now, I felt like I was running out of time as the light dimmed.

St. Mary's Church from Burnside Street

Two quick watercolor sketches of St. Mary's Church across Spa Creek from the end of Burnside Street. I painted them on pages from a book of postcard sized watercolor paper that I picked up somewhere a long time ago. I'm hoping to eventually paint a finished oil from these and other sketches from the end of the dock at Burnside.

Three Trees Overlooking Round Bay

I painted this 22" by 28" oil on canvas painting from a watercolor titled "Round Bay Sketch" that I posted on June 9th. I'm offering the finished oil painting for sale for $300.
