Hello Kristin, i really admire these watercolors of intense color. They are very clorful as if they were painted with oil paint. It is very difficult it to paint this way. I relly like! Congratulations!
Thank you Antonio! I put down several layers of the same color to make the color more intense. And sometimes a little bit of the dried up watercolor paint gets caught up in the brush and put down on the paper, making the paint thick like oil paints.
I earned a BFA at Syracuse University and spent a year studying abroad in Florence, Italy. I am now a sailmaker and artist in Annapolis, MD. I race and cruise my three sailboats on the weekends. I enjoy painting landscapes, especially around the Chesapeake Bay. Often I will paint a watercolor sketch on site and then paint a finished oil from it in the studio. I have also been working on pet portraits, still lifes, and figure drawings lately. I also post photos of boat projects, sailing, traveling, and my life on this blog.
