This painting started life as a watercolor sketch that I did on site. I took a rowboat out from my parent's house and beached her on this sandbar and painted the marsh growing in the middle. I did the oil painting at home working from the sketch.
I earned a BFA at Syracuse University and spent a year studying abroad in Florence, Italy. I am now a sailmaker and artist in Annapolis, MD. I race and cruise my three sailboats on the weekends. I enjoy painting landscapes, especially around the Chesapeake Bay. Often I will paint a watercolor sketch on site and then paint a finished oil from it in the studio. I have also been working on pet portraits, still lifes, and figure drawings lately. I also post photos of boat projects, sailing, traveling, and my life on this blog.
